trailing round the park and being lifted from the pram to feed the ducks by the ornamental water

A.A. Milne's illustrator lived as a boy at 10 Kent Terrace (backing on to Hanover Terrace) in the 1880's, and in this memoir recalls his earliest memory. Other park memories concern cricket games, a Boys' Brigade parade on Jubilee Day 1887 and skating on the frozen lake. A drawback to playing cricket was the number of other games going on in the park, and the likelihood of having your ball stolen.
